Dr. Kevin Kovacs - Director of Academics

Dr. Kovacs was in education for 19 years before joining Gardens SOTA: 11 years teaching both elementary and secondary levels, in gifted and in dual-language settings, and eight as an assistant principal. He earned his doctorate degree in 2004 and has been a professor at Palm Beach State College for several years. Dr. Kovacs harnessed and demonstrated the passion for each of these admirable vocations and has been applying his experience to provide the best educational approaches since becoming Director of Academics (Principal) of Gardens SOTA in June 2013.
Reflective of his strong belief that the visual and performing arts are the best means to ignite every student's desire to be life-long learners, Dr. Kovacs' doctoral studies and dissertation focused on instructional methods that utilize the arts to increase learning potential in all students. He has always prioritized character education, community outreach, parent involvement, and the continued presence of music, visual arts, and theatre arts as a part of the learning experience. At GSOTA, these approaches as well as the emphasis on 21st Century methods for all teachers, are what make us a very unique and innovative learning community.

Maximizing the effectiveness and consistency of classroom instruction is the top priority in Dr. Kovacs' overall mission. His goals for GSOTA are three-fold: (1) to infuse excitement into our school culture, the GSOTA Experience; (2) to continue setting high standards for teacher performance, and (3) to increase academic expectations for all students. Dr. Kovacs is committed to safeguarding and implementing the GSOTA vision for how students deserve to learn into the future.
